Trusted Assessor Level 2: Installing and Demonstrating Minor Adaptations

Purpose of the Course
This course is ideal for staff needing to adjust, fit and demonstrate equipment or minor adaptations that have been issued, or to review and adjust equipment already being used.

The range of equipment includes:

  • Chair and bed raisers
  • Bath boards, seats
  • Stair rails, rails for toileting, raised toilet seats and frames
  • Grab rails
  • Perching stools and small household items

Aimed at:

  • Handypeople
  • Delivery drivers
  • Housing assistants
  • Technicians
  • Surveyors

Learning outcomes

  1. Understand how daily living equipment can assist people with functional difficulties to live independently.
  2. Understand safety and risk factors with the prescription of basic equipment.
  3. Be able to measure for and fit and basic daily living equipment.
  4. Understand how to review equipment and adjust it as required.
  5. Understand how to demonstrate the use of basic equipment to the service user.
  6. Understand when to refer service users to other services.
  7. Understand the role of the Trusted Assessor at level 2.

Course Length
Two days. All learners are required to attend both days in full to complete the course.

Pre-requisites
Learners should have a prior knowledge of health and social care services. All DLF courses require a basic level of English language.

Accreditation
Every learner will be tested against the learning outcomes, this is completed through a variety of classroom assessments and in some cases an assignment to be completed at home. Please ensure you have significant time to complete any post course assignments within three weeks of the course, before booking. Once passed, all learners will receive a certificate accredited by the OCN London at Level Two.

Course Programme
The course aims to include a lot of practical elements, therefore learners must dress in comfortable clothing as they may be asked to bend and kneel for some elements.
