DLF launches adaptations webinars

The DLF is running a series of free webinars over the winter period featuring techniques and advice for assessing for major adaptations. Presented by DLF Trainers and leading OT practitioners in the field of adaptations the talks are based on DLF's level five 'Home Adaptations for Professionals' training course.

Mapping the use of AT in the UK: DLF’s submission to the APPGAT

EquipU launches AskSARA across seven health and social care partners

A collaborative venture involving seven health and social care partners in central Scotland has led to the launch of a joint version of the AskSARA online self-assessment tool. Backed by EquipU the community equipment partnership the new service will be promoted to residents across a wide area reaching a population of 2.46 million.

DLF supports the development of an improved Assistive Products List for WHO

The DLF welcomes BATA's initiative to create a UK stakeholder group to further develop the WHO's APL (Assistive Products List) for the UK. At a meeting in July initial supporters of this new programme of work agreed to work together to define a new list of the most essential assistive products in use. The DLF has signed up to BATA's Statement of Collaboration and welcomes future involvement in this work.

The DLF's 50th anniversary - a written history

It has been a challenging time to be providing information, advice and training services over the last few months - the needs are real. Older and disabled people have needed practical solutions to independent living within the restrictions of being 'locked down' to their current home. Many suppliers of equipment have been able to continue offering home delivery and simple aids are continuing to make a difference to people living the lives they choose.

The DLF and Carers UK have released a new interactive online tool for unpaid carers. The new Carers UK AskSARA https://carersuk.livingmadeeasy.org.uk provides free, impartial guidance about aids and adaptation for independent living.

Moving on from AT Dementia

The DLF and Trent DSDC today announce the transfer of their AT Dementia information website to the DLF marking the end of the joint arrangement that was established in 2007. The original development project was co-funded by the partners to set up a new and important resource for the public and professionals looking for guided advice on equipment that could help with dementia.
